I have my own set of five rules for presenting, which you can download here – but this video from Nancy Duarte makes great points – it’s well worth a watch.   (Well, the first few seconds are just an advert, as is the last little bit but it’s worth listening to them for the rest of what Nancy has to say.

Five Rules for Creating Great Presentations from Duarte, Inc.  (Note, some browsers may need you to reload this page to show this link.)
Of course, you don’ t have to go to Nancy’s company in America for this – we can do it for you in the UK :)
From a personal perspective, I think Nancy has too much of the “American Default Assumption” in her work (the slides are the presentation) and concentrates on them more than we do – we tend to look at the person as well as the slides (for the obvious reasons!) – oftentimes more so!  For what it’s worth though, you might like to know that Nancy’s company designed the slide I often use on my training courses as “possibly the best slide of it’s type”.
If you’d like to be able to do this kind of thing, have a look at our presentations training site. :)
